The Centre for Marine Studies is located on Levels 3,7 and 8 of the Gehrmann Laboratories, Research Road, St Lucia.(Building 60, map)
Laboratory facilities include:
- PC2 rated labs
- Wet labs
- Histology lab
- Quarantine labs
- Constant temperature rooms
- "Walk in" fridge and freezer rooms
- A large recirculating marine aquarium facility
The CMS manages 3 Island research stations off the Queensland coast and a land based aquacultural facility in Western Brisbane. The Centre also coordinates the activities of the University Boating and Diving facility.
- Heron Island Research Station, the largest research station on the Great Barrier Reef;
- Moreton Bay Research Station, a modern facility on North Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay;
- Low Isles Research Station, a small station on the inner, northern Great Barrier Reef;
- Pinjarra Aquatic Research Station, an aquaculture facility a few kilometres west of the main St Lucia campus.
