| UQ encourages innovative teaching practices
that meet the academic and professional needs of its students.
UQ has more than 2000 academic staff dedicated
to teaching and research, and many are recognised internationally
as leaders in their fields. More than 160 adjunct professors share
their experience and leading-edge knowledge, based on their extensive
work experience in industry, the professions and many other areas
of life.
UQ has won more Australian Awards for University
Teaching than any other university. The University of Queensland
won two major awards at the 2004 Australian Awards for University
Teaching. Dr Merrilyn Goos won the 'Social Sciences' category,
while the UQ Graduate School won an institutional award for the
category 'Provision of support services (on- and/or off-campus)
that assist student learning'. Dr Jimmy Botella was a finalist in
the Biological Sciences, Health and Related Studies category.
